We are moving North this year -
the
8th Annual Hike-n-Seek is coming to
Elkader in beautiful Clayton County!
Hike-n-Seek is the Iowa Geocachers Organization's big annual
event. Each year a different cacher hosts the event in a different
part of the state. Not only do we highlight a different part of the
state each year, but we also bring you the challenge of our 24 hour
caching competition!
HnS 2011 staff plans on placing 100+ permanent caches in the city
of Elkader and Clayton County. There will be will be caches to suit
every cacher’s ability - hikers, PnGs, canoe/kayakers (water
levels permitting), kids caches – we’ll have it
all!
The Elkader City Park Shelter will open at 8:00 Saturday morning.
Instructions for the competition will happen at 9:30, and at 10am -
Let the Competition Begin!
There will be a potluck dinner at 6pm, so bring your hunger, your
best potluck goodies, and your own table service. We'll have a
grill ready for you, and there is a refrigerator in the shelter if
you'd like to bring your items early in the day.
Camping accommodations are located in Elkader City Park, and the
adjacent Deer Run Resort. Sorry, Elkader City Park Campground
does not take reservations. We anticipate there being plenty of
room for us, however. First come, first served! Deer Run does take
reservations for RVs.
