SV: Åt söder skådar man det mäktiga lågfjället Dundret. Från dess topp kan man vid klart väder se en elftedel av sveriges yta. Namnet Dundret kommer från finskans tunturi (fjäll), som i sin tur kommer från det samiska ordet tuoddar (lågfjäll).
Åt norr det vackra stationshuset i Gällivare, byggt med jugendinspirerad stil. Redan år 1888 gick det första tåget härifrån med malm från Malmberget ner till kusten. 1911 tillkom banan ned till Porjus i samband med ett kraftverksbygge där, något som sedermera blev till Inlandsbanan ända ned till Östersund.
EN: To the south you behold the mighty mountain Dundret. On a clear day you can see one 11th of Sweden from the top. The name Dundret comes from the Finnish word tunturi (mountain), which in turn comes from the Sápmi word tuoddar (low mountains).
To the north you have the beautiful railway station building in Gällivare, built in Art Nouveau-inspired style. As early as 1888 the first train went from here with ore from Malmberget down to the coast. In 1911 another railroad to the south-west was finished, to Porjus, were a major power plant was being built. That railroad later became Inlandsbanan all the way down to Ostersund (in the middle of Sweden).
