Geocache Description:

Da: Cachen er gemt i en kløft i Norðradalur. Eng: Hidden in a deep gorge in Norðradalur
BEMÆRK/NOTE
GPS signal kan være dårligt i kløften
GPS signal might not be very good down the gorge!

This cache is placed in the vally, where Mrs famkiers grew up.

It is hidden in a canyon, and it requires a little extra to get there. So the cache is not for people with physical problems. And if it has rained a lot, it can be extremely difficult to get down into the gorge. Once you arrive, the cache is not hard to find, it is a PETling which includes logbook and a pencil. Remember to screw the lid tightly after you have logged.

Here you are at a "Rætt" which is as a sheepfold. In the past, all Norðradalurs sheep was collected here when they were marked or slaughtered. Untill about 50 years ago the sheeps was driven by the sheperds to Tórshavn from here to be sold. On site you will find the first "sheep bath" in the Faroe Islands (covered by a large plate of metal). There sheeps were thrown in for treatment for insects in the wool.

WP REB
Here you need a minor climb of 3 meters (approx). A rope is fixed and will help you

WP HAVET
When you are almost beside the sea, you should treat yourself to go right down to the sea. It is said that once a huge whale stranded in the gap. It could not turn around and come back out. So, here ended his days.
If the weather is hard, the sea become extremely violent down here. My brother in law says that the terrain down here is different each time he comes down here, the sea has moved around all the rocks - big and small

The cache is placed with the help of and permission from my brother in law, the local peasant Òlavur Reinert.
