Geocache Description:

This is number five in a series celebrating "The Doctor" and his travels through time & space in his TARDIS. Look for the 5th Doctor's little blue box. Due to the difficulties with travel through time & space this series will not be posted in chronological order.

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a mysterious and eccentric Time Lord known as the Doctor who travels through time and space in his time machine, the TARDIS (an acronym for Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space), which normally appears from the exterior to be a blue 1950s British police box. With his companions, he explores time and space, faces a variety of foes and saves civilizations, helping people and righting wrongs. The programme is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world.

Within the series' narrative, the Doctor is a centuries-old alien, a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey, who travels in time and space in his TARDIS, frequently with companions. When the Doctor is critically injured, he can regenerate his body but in doing so gains a new physical appearance and with it, a distinct new personality. Peter Davidson portrayed the Fifth Doctor from 1981-1984. The Fifth Doctor was far more vulnerable, sensitive, and reserved than his previous incarnations, and often reacted to situations rather than initiating them. Frequently, he made decisions by flipping a coin. Unlike his more authoritative predecessors, he treated his young companions as parts of a team, and often willingly participated in situations under the leadership of someone else who had the strong command presence that he apparently lacked. However, the Fifth Doctor's boyish appearance, nervous energy, and charm all hid the fact that he was a Time Lord of great age, compassion, and experience.

The Fifth Doctor greatly abhorred violence and often hesitated about taking matters into his own hands. For the first time, indecision weighed seriously on the character, and it had its consequences - yet he was also one of the most courageous of his incarnations. On his lapel, the Fifth Doctor wore a celery stalk. He claimed that the celery would sometimes turn purple in the presence of certain gases in the "Praxis" range to which he was allergic, although this allergy was not mentioned by any incarnations before or since. He was also the last doctor to use the original sonic screwdriver, which was destroyed during one of his adventures.

"Oh, marvelous. You're going to kill me. What a finely tuned response to the situation." - the Fifth Doctor

As always be on the look out for Daleks, Cyberman, Autons, the Master, Sontarans, Silurians, Slitheen, Ood, Judoon, Weeping Angels and the occasional Muggle.
