Geocache Description:

A small lock & Lock box, with a variety of swaps. Placed close to the church but not in the churchyard, in Sopworth, Wiltshire. See link

The church was begun during the Perpendicular period (1377-1547)
unbuttressed with big battlements and small pinnacles. The west
tower dates from this time. The North Aisle was built in 1871 when
the church was restored.

The Font is circular and from the 13th century.

The church is dedicated to St.Mary the Virgin, mother of Jesus.

Within the church is a gem of the Arts & Crafts movement.
Designed by William Morris and including a design by Edward Burne-Jones, the window in the south wall shows not just one but three Marys.

Mary Magdalene and Mary Cleopas join the image of Mary the Virgin.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
