Geocache Description:

Congratulations to MuddyWaterGirl for being the first to find. RocksNMud was right behind her.

In order to avoid private property; take a boat to get to this one. It is believed that the Akokisa Indians spent their winters on Galveston Island and other locations along the bay. As summer approached they hopped in their Cyprus canoes and headed inland on the San Jacinto river and its adjoining tributaries. The river and creeks of our area were their highway. It is then easy to imagine they would agree to meetup and make their summer home where 2 rivers would join; perhaps a high bank; where a natural spring is to provide fresh water or some other noticeable land mark. This is why I chose to place the cache where I did. It is on a island very close to where Spring Creek meets the San Jacinto River. One can imagine if you could go back in time; that this area would be very busy. This is a hard cache to get to. You can try canoeing to it, or parking at the 59 bridge and hiking in. You are looking for a black vitamin bottle tied to a Water Oak tree. Please retighten the top and make sure that it is tied off good because this area will flood again. If you hike in; crossing to the island can be hard. If the river is low try crossing by the creek. If it is high you may have to swim. Either way it will be an adventure.
