ENG: Ligatne is a rich town. Its biggest treasures are the famous dungeon-caves and fascination of wild, untouched nature.
Ligatne’s history dates back to the 1815th when in Ligatnes current teritory paper mill was built. Over time Ligatne grew and developed. Residential buildings, school, hospital and Culture house were built. Time from mid 19th century till late 20th century could be considered as Ligatne’s "Golden age", because living conditions were well above average. After Soviet Union’s collapse, the chaos begun in Ligatne’s paper mill as well. Plus there was the fire on 5th of November, 1993 when Ligatne’s paper mill partly burned down. To help recovery, private persons and the State Forest service donated 46 500 Latvian lats. After that a living conditions became worse and people started to leave Ligatne.
In 2014 Ligatne’s paper mill decleared bankruptcy.
LAT: Līgatne ir bagāta pilsēta. Tās lielākās bagātības ir slavenās pagrabalas un neskartās dabas valdzinājums.
Līgatnes vēsture datējama ar 1815. gadu, kad Līgatnes tagadējā teritorijā tika uzcelta papīrfabrika. Ap to tika celtas dzīvojamās ēkas, skola, slimnīca un Kultūras nams. Līgatne kopš 19.gs vidus līdz pat 20. gs 90tajiem gadiem bija kā Sprīdīša meklētā „Laimīgā zeme”, jo dzīves apstākļi bija augsti un neviens nevēlējās pamest šo vietu. Pēc Padomju Savienības sabrukuma arī Līgatnes Papīrfabrikā sākās juku laiki un līdz ar to arī visā Līgatnē dzīves līmenis kritās. Pluss tam visam - 1993. gada 5. novembrī izcēlās ugunsgrēks, kura laikā fabrika daļēji nodega. Tika saziedoti 46 500 lati, lai palīdzētu papīrfabrikai atgūties.
Līgatnes Papīrfabrika 2014. gadā pasludināja maksātnespējas procesu.
