Thermopylae "hot gates" Traditional Geocache

Dear cache owner,

I have been going through caches that have multiple "DNF" (did not find) logs, which is often a sign that a cache is missing, or with the "NeedsArchive" log, which means there are unsolved problems. Generally, cachers avoid hunting a cache with many DNF logs or problems, so it is a good idea for the Cache Owner to check the cache and either replace it or post a log to the cache page to tell fellow geocachers that the cache is still there.

No action by the cache owner may result in a cache being archived to keep the cache from appearing in local Pocket Queries.

Thank you for your understanding.

Geocache Description:

Mythology

Thermopylae means "hot gates" in Greek. This is derived from the myth that Heracles had jumped into the river in an attempt to wash off the Hydra poison infused in the cloak that he could not take off. The river was said to have become hot and stayed that way ever since.

Battle of Thermopylae

Thermopylae is primarily known for the battle that took place there in 480 BC, in which an outnumbered Greek force of seven thousand (including the famous 300 Spartans, 500 warriors from Tegea, 500 from Mantinea, 120 from Orchamenus, 1000 from the rest of Arcadia, 200 from Philius, 80 Mycenae, 700 Corinthians and 400 Thebans) held off a substantially larger force of Persians under Xerxes. For three days they held out between two narrow cliff faces to prevent the use of Xerxes' vast cavalry and infantry force, before being outflanked on the third day via a hidden goat path named the Anopaea Pass. The name since then has been used to reference heroic resistance against a more powerful enemy.

The cache is a small canister containing a log paper and a pencil.
