How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

The cache is not located at the given coordinates. You will need to do a little math work and a projection to get you in the correct location.

Admit it. The reason you are here is to go to the tri-state point, where Nevada, Oregon, and California come together. As long as you are here, you may as well use what you found to help you find a cache. This cache uses the post set by A.W. Von Schmidt, designated as BOUNDARY POST CA NV OR to lead you to the final location.

Since Von Schmidt would have used a surveyors chain to get to his ultimate destination, you may as well use one to find the cache. And while he would not have used a mariner’s compass to get here, you can go ahead and use one of these as well.

To find this cache is easy. Starting at the boundary post, head Southeast by South for a distance of 8 chains, 203 links.
