Geocache Description:

On the heights west of the parking lot for the track to Eigerøy lighthouse you can find a small artillery battery built by the German army in 1943. The battery is a so-called "Kustenartillerie Zug" with two Norwegian 12 cm guns under armored domes. These cannons was dismounted by the Germans in Mysen from the old Norwegian borderfortresses from the dissolution of the union. The battery was the cannon squad under the battery Eigerøy and therefore had the same battery number as the main battery, but with "Zug" in front, ie, "Zug 20./978". The aim of the battery was to protect the entrance to Nordregabet. The cannons are removed, but the armoured domes are still mounted on the two bunkers. It is possible to enter bunkers, and in one of them you can explore long the tunnels. The bunkers are built with clear similarities to the German batteries from the First World War one can find in Europe, with ammunition stores, quarters, and emergency generator rooms in one and the same bunker.
