Geocache Description:

In February 1928, Walt Disney (1901-1966) was a filmmaker with only one success in the curriculum: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The character animation was released a year earlier, with some success at the box office. When he traveled to New York to ask the Universal studio an increase in earnings, he heard a counter-offensive: to accept the 20% reduction in the cache, or else the company would take the rabbit. On the train ride home to Hollywood, he began to think of an alternative - an animal resembling Oswald, with only the tail longer and shorter ears. He wanted to baptize him Mortimer but his wife Lilly, who traveled with him, liked 'effeminate'. She then suggested Mickey. Upon arriving home, Disney had done a sketch of the mouse. On November 18, 1928, the character debuted in theaters with the short film Steamboat Willie. This is the official version of the birth of this 20th century icon. But the entrepreneur's biographers tell a different story: the idea of ??replacing the rabbit was Disney, but Mickey would have been drawn later by animator Ub Iwerks (1901-1971). Controversies aside, the fact is that the success was immediate. In 1929, the docile pet, righteous and naive starred in 12 short films. Five years later, he surrendered $ 600,000 in merchandising and was the great symbol of the company. Meanwhile, Oswald the rabbit disappeared from the map - until it was again purchased by Disney in 2006. (SORRY IF IT'S WRONG, I DID IT IN THE GOOGLE TRANSLATE, I WILL CHECK IT OUT AND I WILL CORRECT IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!)
