Geocache Description:

The Green County Barn Quilts project started in 2008, and by the end of 2010 the 100th barn quilt was installed. Barn quilts are painted wooden squares (designed like one block of a real quilt pattern), generally 8 x 8 feet in size. Some are located on "working" barns, and others are displayed on "retired" barns. It's not as challenging as geocaching, but hunting for the barn quilt locations is a true adventure in experiencing the roads less traveled of the Green County countryside.

The barn was built in the early 1900's. It still has the wooden stanchions. Originally, the milk was cooled in the spring water east of the barn until about 1940, when an attached milkhouse was added. The old stagecoach trail from Beloit to Freeport ran through this valley. The Figi's sold the farm to their son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Linda Meinert and they continue to reside in the house. This Barn Quilt is called No Place Like Home.

Visit this quilt's web page at Green County Barns Quilts. The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Steve Johnston of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form.
