Geocache Description:

As partime citizens of Alanya we like to show geocachers more than the usual touristic places. Only a few meters away from the main road you will find the most beautiful views, historical and culture places and nature spots..

A short up- and downstairs multi to show You the Dockyard and the Gun house.

TIP!! You can combinate this with our cache KIZIL KULE GC284KN and TOPHANE GC22E7K in this area.

Sultan Alaadin Keykubat had started this first Selsjuk’s shipyard construction in 1227 and finished it in one year, to make his dream to become real and become "the sultan of two seas".
Two years after the construction of the tower and six years after he controlled the city. At the north side of the dockyard there is an epigraph and at the left side of the epigraph there is a small mosque, at the right side there is a dormitory for the soldiers.
When you enter you can see the small holes, each one of them is 7.70 in width and 42.30 in length. These holes are tied to each other with arcs. One of these holes used to be a well. There is a parade to the Arsenal.
A foreign writer says: "it is the most famous work of art in the world and Alanya. "
This dockyard was active during the Ottoman period. In 1361, when the King of Cyprus invaded Antalya, the Ruler of Alaiye sent ships to Antalya. Ruler Mahmut. Moreover he agreed with other Turkish Rulers and sent their navy to Cyprus. At that time there were good ship masters. But today it is abandoned to loneliness and it is trying to still stand. We think that these works of arts have to be restored. It still remembers when the dockyard was used by the sailors.

There's a gun house next to the dockyard. It was built with the aim of defence on a rock ten meters above the sea level. It's also known that cannons for battleships were made in the three-storey and rectangular building made of stone blocks and constructed in 1277.

The Dockyard and the Gun house are completely restaurated in 2011, there is a small entryprice, but a combination entryprice for red tower, shipyard and citadel is also possible.
It will be closed at 18:00 hour!!.
