Geocache Description:

The cache is a small water proof tube. It is hidden on the roadside where it will not cause disturbance. There is no need to go into fields or private property

Many people are aware of the old United States Military Cemetery which was at the top of Rocky Road. But did you know about these?

Lisnabreeny QM Gasolene Supply Company
As you look into the field from the cache you are looking at the site of the Lisnabreeny QM Gasoline Supply depot. This was home to 3878 Quartermaster Gasoline Supply Company of the United States Army. In the days of the races being separated this was one of the U.S. Army's Coloured Race Companies. What makes this interesting was the number of buildings which had once stood here, some of the concrete bases of buildings can be seen in field especially on Google Earth. As you are heading towards the cemetery which is on your right you can still see the concrete fence posts on the left that protected the site.

Anti- Aircraft Battery
Please see the old photograph showing that in the field directly opposite the gate to the old cemetery was a Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery which was known as "U3". This Battery was to have three 3.7 inch (93mm) mobile heavy Anti-Aircraft Guns and one of the gun positions can be seen on the extreme right of the picture below.
On looking into this field now there is nothing to illustrate what had been there in the past however an aerial photograph showed a large circular shape in an adjoining field.
American Army Head Quarters
The was at Lisnabreeny house which was rebuilt and is currently the Music Department of Lagan College Grammar School.
