How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
There is no cache at the published coordinates but if you wish to visit they will place you at a location with the same name as this cache - King Arthur.
However, it is not 'that' King Arthur that we are interested in but another englishman, Arthur Askey - a king of comedy. Born on 6th. June 1900, it was said that Arthur "showed symptoms of being able to amuse".
He was working in a touring concert party and the music halls when his big break came in 1938 through his role in the first regular radio comedy series, Band Waggon on the BBC. While only blessed with an unprepossessing stature at a height of 5'2" he became a giant of the comedy scene whose career spanned the stage, film, radio and television. Maintaining the theme of this cache one of his films was even titled "King Arthur Was a Gentleman" - which we all knew of course.
He was still performing at the age of 80, just 2 years before his death on 15th. November 1982.
If you would like to know more about Arthur's impressive career you will have to look him up on the internet because if I write too much more here you will not know which part of the description to use to solve the final coordinates for the cache.
You will find the cache at S37° 51.(A+7B+8F), E145° 11.(R+9S+3W).
Note:- 7B = 7xB etc.
The cache contains a log only - you will need to bring your own pen. Please replace the camo. to ensure the cache is not visible to muggles.
There is suitable street parking nearby.
