Geocache Description:

This Educational Event (EduVent) is brought to you by the members of: GeocacheAlaska!

Working hard to promote Geocaching in Alaska! Please join us today!

Meet fellow geocachers and learn how one geocacher wove geocacaching into a family roadtrip from Missouri to Georgia, on Thursday, November 17, beginning at 6:46 p.m., at the BP Energy Center, 900 E. Benson Blvd. (Click for map.)

Tonight's speaker is Ladybug Kids, who will be delivering this presentation in person in Anchorage and via WebEx in other Anchorage communities upon request.

Some of the topics to be discussed at this EduVent include:

  • Planning the trip...aka How to use an airline route map to link the previously unlinkable locations
  • Caches Along a Route
  • Pocket Queries
  • Geocaching Swiss Army Knife
  • GoogleEarth
  • The Jasmer Challenge
  • Identifying Those Really Cool Locations
  • Identifying Those Really Cool Caches
  • Identifying Those Really Cool (Mandatory) Rest Stops
  • Turning the SEUS Red

Please post a "Will Attend" log on this event page to stay appraised of the final details. If we need to make any announcements about this event, all registered attendees will automatically receive an email copy of those announcements via the email you have registered with your Geocaching.com account. Adding a "Will Attend" log to this page will also assure enough hard copy handouts are printed for the event participants.

Please arrive on time so upfront administrative details can be handled and announcements made, allowing the course content to start precisely at 7:00 p.m. (or 1900hrs if you prefer). Also, please bring your favorite nonalcoholic beverage and a dessert to share with your fellow cachers.

There will be a free-will offering cache container at the event to help defray the costs of hosting these FUNdamentals events if you would like to make a donation. The GeocacheAlaska! Store will be available onsite immediately before and after the presentation. You may purchase items from our line of GxProxy gear as well as official Groundspeak merchandise. The brand new GeocacheAlaska! Jade Geocoins will also be available along with the new GeocacheAlaska! PathTag.

If you have requests for EduVent topics, have a topic that you would like to present to the Alaskan geocaching community, or would like to host future presentations like this one elsewhere in Alaska, please contact Education Committee Chair and GeAK WebMaster, SSO JOAT.
