Ossuary of victims of world war I. (1914-1918) in Ljubljana

The remains of fallen soliders and deceased prisoners of war rest in this ossuary also known as Kranjski Janezi (carniolian Johns): 35 officers and 4 701 soliders of the Austro-Hungarian army, 342 Russian, 80 Romanian and 79 Serbian POWs.
The remains of Slovenian victims were laid to rest in sarcophags: Ivan Eindlicher, a supporter of the national revival who died in prison in Graz and the following 5 victims of the Judenburg process who were shot on 16th May 1918 in Judenburg: Anon Hafner, Alojzij Rogelj, Alojz Štefancic, Karel Mozina and Joso Dautovic. They were all members of 17th k.u.k infantry regiment (named Kranjski Janezi, because 92% of all soliders in the regiment were Slovenes). In May 1918 they lead an uprising of soliders in Judenburg, due to starvation and injustice and maltreatment from the officers.

The ossuary, opened on 10th December 1939, is the work of Slovenian architect, Edo Ravnikar. The statue of a solider was sculpted by Lojze Dolinar.

IMPORTANT: As the treasure is hidden in a cemetery, be respectful to all who rest here. For this reason, I uploaded a photo of microlocation of the cache. This way you can discover cache as quickly as possible and with as little interference. The cemetery is open in winter (from 1st October to 31st March) from 7.00 am to 19.00 pm in summer (from 1st April to 30th September), and between 7:00 and 21:00 pm.
