By George, it's Fort George!
How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
Welcome to Fort George! This historical site is in Georgetown, right next to the cruise ship harbor. You should use caution, as muggles will abound, but it is unlikely that most will care. If you see any locals hanging out and watching you, then you should come back another time.
What remains of Fort George stands on the corner of Harbour Drive and Fort Street in George Town, Grand Cayman. The Fort once stood overlooking the harbour, but development has landlocked this historic site. Today's visitor will see its low stone walls adjacent to the Royal Watler Cruise Terminal and may wonder when it was built and why so little is left of it!
Once at the coordinates, you will need a three digit code (which we will call ABC) to open this cache. To get the three digit code (ABC), solve the following short puzzle.
All of the information needed for the puzzle can be found on the signs surrounding the cache.
B=In 166B, the then Governor of Jamaica, Lord Windsor, received royal instructions to protect the "Caimanes Islands ... by planting and raising Fortifications upon them."
C=The oval base of the Fort measured approximately 57 feet by C8 feet.
Once you have solved A, B, and C, use those three numbers to open the cache. Please be certain to use stealth, bring your own writing utensil (it is a micro!), and to tuck the cache away when you are finished so that it is not very visible. Make sure it is closed well!
