The Museum operates from early May to early October. If you visit while the Museum is operating (Wednesday through Sunday 10 am - 4 pm with special events on some evenings), it's an interesting place that provides a unique look into the history of the area. This cache is placed so that it is accessible year round, even when the Museum is closed. The cache is also winter accessible. The micro container was replaced with a small container on 25 June 2019. Please press hard on all four corners of the lid to keep the rain out and the contents dry.
In the summer, this is a short walk up a paved incline, though the terrain is a bit tricky at the cache location. In winter, it's a longer walk over level, paved terrain until very near the cache. Winter walk is still only 0.14 mile.
Safe summer and winter parking coordinates are provided. Do NOT park on the shoulder of Onondaga Lake Parkway. It may be a bit shorter walk to the cache in the winter, but this is a very busy road and parking on the shoulder of the road is risky. The terrain is also more difficult from the Parkway than it is from the suggested winter parking coordinates.
Dewski's Relics - PF#6 cache was placed in this park in 2007 and archived in 2010. During the time PF#6 was located here, we included Ste Marie as one of the parks in our Parks in Onondaga County Challenge cache. Alas, PF#6 was the only cache in this park, and when it was archived our challenge could only be completed by those who had found PF#6. We have now rectified that situation, and want to thank Dewski for giving us the idea of placing a cache here!
