Le mot sotch vient de l'occitan et désigne un creux, ou une dépression, en forme circulaire. En général il est recouvert d'une terre fertile favorisant la culture.
Appelé aussi doline, ces formes karstiques sont de petit diamètre mais particulièrement profondes en forme d'entonnoir. Elles sont crées par dissolution du calcaire au contact de l'eau. L'eau s'infiltre dans le causse et draine les éléments dissous par une fissure de la roche appelée diaclase.
Le sotch de Robert est pratiquement circulaire d'un diamètre de 200 m et d'une profondeur de 30 m. Les versants en pente douce surmontés d'un talus rocheux sont couverts de landes à Buis (Buxus sempervirens).
La cache vous mène jusqu'à cette curiosité naturelle.

The sotch word comes from the Occitan and indicates a hollow, or a depression, in circular shape. Generally is covered with a fertile ground favoring the culture.
Called also sinkhole, these karstic forms are of small diameter but particularly deep in the shape of funnel. They are create by dissolution of the limestone in the contact of the water. The water infiltrates into the limestone plateau and drains elements dissolved by a crack of the called diaclase rock.
Robert's sotch is practically circular of a diameter of 200 m and a depth of 30 m. Hillsides sloping gently surmounted by a rocky bank are covered with moors with Box tree (Buxus sempervirens).
