A nice drive to discover some history of the Meander Valley
Is it really possible to live until 117 years old? That was the claim of Sammy Cox, a man born in England in 1773, who died in Launceston Tasmania in 1891. Sammy also claimed to have come to Tasmania on his uncles ship in 1789 and lived here with a tribe of Aborigines - making him Tasmania's first white settler!
Is he an extraordinary man, or just a good story teller?
This cache is located in the area where Sammy spent most of his life. If you want to know more about Sammy, visit the establishment near the cache if it's open, say hello to Mark (who knows about the cache), and read the newspaper articles on the wall at the Sammy Cox Bistro!
The cache is hidden in the back carpark. Cache is a clear 200ml container with logbook, pen, a TB and swaps.
