Geocache Description:

Japan and Portugal have a long relationship since the 16th century despite the big distance between our countries and the noticeable cultural differences. I believe that the differences among humans are one of the most important drivers for human evolution. Visiting Osaka, about 30 years ago, changed a lot in my way of thinking, resulting from contact with Japanese people and culture. Due to the great respect and appreciation I feel for Japan, I'm very proud of having this geocache published in Osaka, thanks to the priceless cooperation of my friend,

Osaka Castle - Osaka - Japan São Filipe Castle - Setubal - Portugal

Two different castles - The visit of the Portuguese Vessel “Sagres” in 1983 to Osaka was to participate in the commemorations of the 400th anniversary of the Osaka Castle. That’s why I choose to dedicate this cache to the Osaka Castle, also build in the 16th century, when the Japan/Portugal relationship was starting to develop. Also to illustrate some differences among our two cultures I choosed to publish a photo of a Portuguese Castle in Setubal, my birth town, also built in the 16th century.

The cache - It’s hidden in the Osaka Castle area. Please mind that the coordinates may not be stable due to a high and steep rock wall.
