Geocache Description:

Bon Geocaching ! N'oubliez pas d'admirer la vue !

*********************************************************************************************
A "park and grab" cache to tell you about the château of Castelgaillard ... on February 29th! ;-)
Warning
: it is a private property and you must not go under the electric fence that blocks the  passage. Of course, no problem to access the "treasure", hidden on a public ground.

In the
early thirteenth century, the Count of Comminges
Bernard V became lord of  Castelgaillard and made this castle (XII century) a temporary count's residence.

In
1743, the ruined castle was bought by Dominique Pagan, a bourgeois from l'Isle-en-Dodon. He built a house on the ruins of the ancient counts' castle.
However, the castle mound is still very noticeable, surrounded by a wide walkway.

Castelgaillard
is a dead end. Park your car after the church, at the end of the road, at the foot of the château, next to the big stones.

Happy Geocaching! Don't forget to enjoy the view!
