2002 - Yowie's Original Description:
An easy urban cache in a strange place
I only recently discovered this place, despite living in the area for a while. Lots of easy access by road.
If you're interested in the history of it, there's plenty of information signs. The one near the north east gate describes why the place is so strange. You should read it even if you're not interested in the history.
2018 - Brief History
The former St. Thomas' Cemetery was the first burial ground established on the North Shore. The land for the Cemetery was donated to the Anglican Parish of St Leonards in 1845 by the prominent landowner and merchant, Alexander Berry.
In 1967 the Cemetery was handed over to North Sydney Council by an Act of Parliament granting the area as 'community land' and green-lighting its conversion from a Cemetery into a Rest Park. The new park opened in 1974.
PLEASE NOTE: Disregard (for hint purposes) the earlier photos in the Gallery. They refer to the cache in its original form. It is now a biggish green cylinder, not an ammo can. Size probably between small and regular.
