Geocache Description:

This cache IS about the numbers.
If you are not a fan of numbers caching, read no further...

Ironman Bingo Challenge

You've seen them - those consecutive daily geocaching challenges: 100 days straight, 150 days, 365 days of finding geocaches - accomplish that feat, and you've completed the challenge.

Well, here is one more incarnation of the infamous 'ironman' challenge...

Both this challenge cache and the Ironhorse Marathon Challenge were created to mark the completion of my own 366 consecutive days of geocaching challenge...
...but with a twist!

Consecutive daily geocaching challenges are becoming a dime a dozen. Below is a compilation of a number of mini 'consecutive'-style geocaching challenges - in the form of the classic BINGO grid.

While this cache IS at the posted coordinates, your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to get outside and cache every day, for as many consecutive days as it takes to qualify for each square necessary to form a line on the grid below - vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.

RULES!

  1. Complete the logging requirements in the form of online Find logs as defined below for any claimed squares
  2. Claim 5 squares that form a line on the grid in any direction
  3. Only caches logged Found and dated Fe 26, 2012 (get it? Iron? Fe? February? 26? :) and after will be considered valid for this challenge
  4. To claim grid squares, include for verification in your Find log (or note):
    • The square labels (eg B4) being claimed
    • The date of your first find that qualifies for each square claimed (the following set of days must each contain at least one cache find fulfilling the square description)
    eg: Beginning July 14th, 15 consecutive days of caching that each include a Multi-stage cache find
  5. Find and sign the physical cache logbook located at the posted coordinates for this listing
This challenge will require planning.
It will require dedication.
It will require patience.
It will require strategy.

Some tasks are easy, some are hard.
Can you do what it takes to successfully complete and yell "BINGO!"?
...or do you also have what it takes to fill the entire grid?

First-to-claim special prizes:
I have plans, in the near future, to create a commemorative "Ironman" geocoin.
The first cachers verified to complete the following shapes (and Find this cache):
* An "X" (both diagonals) [claimed!]
* An "I" (row 1, 5, and colum N)
* An "H" (row 3, and colums B and O)
* An "O" (rows 1, 5, and columns B and O) [claimed!]
will receive a coin as soon as they're available!
(only one claim per cacher, whichever shape is completed first)
* Anyone who completes the full BINGO grid will also earn a coin

GSAK Users:

If you are a knowledgeable user of GSAK, and are maintaining your own Finds database, find the very first notes in the log history posted pre-publish and you will see 25 SQL queries for the SQLite Manager that will help you to determine square qualifications.

Other points:

  • "physical caches" are defined above as geocaches that require signing a logbook or logsheet found in a container at the posted/final coordinates: Traditional, Multi, Mystery, Letterbox, Wherigo, Ape.
  • All other "caches", unless qualified, refer to any physical or virtual geocache listing that can be logged online for a smiley
  • On logging the find, claimed squares will be checked for validity - claimed finds must be valid as of the date you supply for each square
  • Claimed squares can indeed overlap. For example: you could cache for 25 days and complete 4 squares by finding 25 Terrain 1 to 3 Regular size Mystery caches with scenic views.
  • You can find as many caches as you want on any day, as long each day included in a square claim contains at least one find that fulfills the square description.
The physical container:

The physical container for this challenge cache IS located at the posted coordinates. The listed terrain is rated 3.0 as a general average of the bingo squares, but is not indicative of this cache itself. The terrain for this container is rated more like a 1.5, and a difficulty of 1.5.
Remember: This listing can only be logged Found once you have a valid BINGO line claimed AND have signed the logbook in this physical cache.

Congratulations to those first to claim a BINGO!

Most importantly: HAVE FUN!
(no really, try to have fun, play nice, play fair, respect nature, property, and people!)

This cache was placed to mark the end of my own personal 366-day Ironman geocaching challenge. It was an adventurous, inspirational, social, and enlightening journey. My hope is that the fun and sport of geocaching can continue to be experienced, in different ways, for different people, however they choose play the game :) Enjoy!

(These two challenges are dedicated to my mother who passed away from ALS a mere 4 days after I completed my one year challenge. She fought to the end, and as her world caved in around her, mine opened up before me. Her endurance inspired me, and encouraged me to persevere onward to the end. May she now rest in freedom and peace.)
