The Muppet Show, a half-hour long musical comedy variety show, aired on TV from 1976-1981. The action in each episode included onstage acts and frantic backstage activity among emcee Kermit the Frog, his Muppet friends and a live celebrity. The creation of puppeteer Jim Henson, The Muppet Show introduced us to many endearing characters, many of whom are being celebrated with caches in and around the Whitnall Park/Root River Parkway area.
Animal
Animal is the wild drummer of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem and also plays drums for The Muppet Show house band. His loud and mono-syllabic vocabulary reveals his primal desires for drums, food, women, sleep and pain. Puppeteer Frank Oz quipped, “ You don’t mess with Animal. He eats glass, man.”

The Electric Mayhem Band consists of Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on bass guitar, Janice on guitar and Zoot on saxophone.
