Geocache Description:

You should be familiar with this 11,500 acre state park by now. It includes many other caches placed in all of the far reaching corners of this great recreational area.

WELCOME TO RED SCORPION!

The last 2 stages of this cache can only be done Wednesday thru Sunday 9am-3pm, unless you have your own kayak/canoe/small boat. (These stages will need to be completed before 3pm, IF you rent a motor boat, canoe, kayak or take the tour).

PLEASE NOTE: For all math problems unless otherwise noted decimal places are ignored. Just fill in the blanks. (Ex. 12.345 = 12,345)

STEP #1 - HOBE MOUNTAIN

There is a bench here. Note the year Mr. Taylor was born and the year he passed away. When you walk up the tower, how many steps does it take to get to the top from the bottom of the tower? (HINT: LESS THEN 50)

Year Born (XX) x Steps = A __ __ x __ __ = _______

Year Died (XX) x Steps = B __ __ x __ __ = _______

A - 934 = N 27 0X.XXX _____ A - 934 = N 27 0_.___

B + 3601 = W 080 0X.XXX _____ + 3601 = W 080 0_.___

CHECK #1: (A + B) x Steps = 164864, (__ + __) x __ = 164864

When you locate this cache, make note of the NUMBER in the BOTTOM, it will come into play later in this multi-cache.

STEP #2 - GATOR PIT

Now you must find the alligator pit. If you cannot find it, you can decode the hint below by using the 2 ciphers. N CA°EE.JDI = N XX XX.XXX W EGE EA.ACJN = W XXX XX.XXX N CA EE.JDI = N __ __.___ W EGE EA.ACJN = W ___ __.___

A|B|C|D|E|F|G|H|I|J ------------------- 4|2|9|6|1|0|3|8|5|7 ABC = 429

1|2|3|4|5|6|7|8|9|0 ------------------- 0|9|8|7|6|5|4|3|2|1 429 = 792

EXAMPLE: ABC = 429 = 792

CHECK #2: N XX XX.XXX + W XXX XX.XXX = 107 08.180

N 27 __.___ + W 080 __.___ --------------- 107 08.180

Answer 2 questions about the gator pit and replace the numbers in the answer for the letters in the solution. DO NOT replace numbers already present.

What is the code for messing with the gators? Locate written code on sign or post. It is Code ABC.DEF

Second one will be given to you as the new signs do not have the info: $500.00; Plug amount into this format: $GHI.JK U.S. Dollars

N CF KJ.444 = N XX XX.444 W J8H I8.44C = W X8X X8.44X

N CF JK.444 = N __ __.444 W J8H I8.44C = W _8_ _8.44_

STEP #3 - EAGLES VIEW

At the above coordinates you will find the next physical cache. It is well hidden, so don't give up.

CHECK #3: N 27 XX.XXX + W 080 XX.XXX x BOT # in cache = 1285 06.632

N 27 __.___ + W 080 __.___ --------------- ___ __.___ x ____ --------------- 1285 06.632

You're getting closer to the end! Remember to take note of the NUMBER located in the BOTTOM of this cache! You'll need it sometime during this trip!

STEP #4 - THE BENCH

The next math problem will get you to the Step #4 coordinates.

110 - Eagles View Cache Bot #XX = N 27 00.0XX 110 - _____ = N 27 00.0__

247 - Hobe Mountain Cache Bot #XX = W 080 06.XXX 247 - _____ = W 080 06.___

CHECK #4A: N 27 00.0__ __ + W 080 06.__ __ __ --------------- 107 06.302

At this location you will see a bench in memory of Daniel R. Nolen. Make note of the dates on this bench, as they will be used for the next math problem.

Date Born = AB CD BE, Date Died = AF AG FF

N C6 BF.FCG, W AGA A6.4C6

N __6 __ __.__ __ __, W __ __ __ __6.4__6 CHECK: #4B: (A x B) + (C x G) = 16

STEP #5 - THE BIKE TRAIL

On this part of your journey, bikes have the right-of-way, so watch out for them. When you locate this step, make note of the NUMBER in the BOTTOM, it will come into play later in this multi-cache.

The easy part is over. Now it is time to canoe, kayak, motor boat, or tour the river in the Loxahatchee Queen. Off you go, on a 3.4 mile ride up the Loxahatchee River!

This is where you need to go for the HOME location.

A = Hobe Mountain Cache BOT #XX B = Bike Trail Cache BOT #XX C = Eagles View Cache BOT #XX

Find the North Coord: A + 15 = D, C x 51.5 = E
N 26 D.E
N 26 __.__

Find the West Coord: C - 3 = G, A x C + 285 = H
W 080 G.H
W 080 __.___

CHECK #5: D + E = 676, ____ + ____ = 676, G + H = 810, ____ + ____ = 810

STEP #6 - THE HOME

You're almost there! Almost, but not quite! You’ve made it to the final 2 stages of this cache. Make sure to grab the interpretive site pamphlet that explains all about this area. You will have to explore this area a little to find the answer to some questions.

Find the house with the Hurricane log painted on the outside wall. How many hurricanes are recorded for 1947? _A_ and 1949? _B_

The person who lived here had a small bank hidden away in his cabin, how many coins did he have stashed away? _C_

How much did the gentleman weigh? _D_ lbs.

E = Hobe Mountain Cache BOT #XX F = Bike Trail Cache BOT #XX G = Eagles View Cache BOT #XX

A + B + C + D + E + F + G + 53404 = N 26 XX.XXX ___ + ___ + ___ + ___ + ___ + ___ + ___ + 53404 = N 26 __ __.__ __ __

15034 - A - B - C - D - E - F - G = W 080 0X.XXX 15034 - ___ - ___ - ___ - ___ - ___ - ___ - ___ = W 080 __ __.__ __ __

CHECK #6: A x B = 6 C + D = 5245

STEP #7 - THE CACHE

You just have a little walk ahead of you. NOW GO FIND IT!

Have fun and happy GeoCaching!
