The cache is situated at approx 2510m on the summit of Mount Tarinaki. It can be accessed from several routes, however I would recommend approaching from North Egmont if you have not attempted this summit before.
This cache will challenge you.
From carpark to summit you will climb over 1400m. It takes from 8 - 10 hours to make a return trip to the summit from the North Egmont Visitors Centre and the difficulty in reaching this cache should not be underestimated. I do not recommend attempting this cache in winter or in adverse conditions. In winter the cache may be under several feet of ice. Please note that only a signed log will count as a found for this cache.
A summit attempt should be planned in detail and all precautions should be taken. Once at the top, enjoy the view and the cache. Take heaps of photos.
