Geocache Description:

This is a series of 5 geocaches located on a 2.5km circular trail through the Croft quarry nature trail to the south of the village of Huncote. The trail involves a mildly strenuous walk along the side and on top of the Croft quarry shielding bank which is now a rich habitat for various flora and fauna. On a clear day the elevation at the top of the shielding bank provides impressive views of the South Leicestershire landscape and villages.

There are a number of information boards around the trail providing various wildlife and geological information relating to the area.

The first three caches can be accessed without much effort, the later three require a stairway climb, which wouldn't be suitable for disabled access.

The trail is best entered from the Huncote to Croft road just beyond the hump backed bridge leaving Huncote village. There are a couple of parking spots at the entrance gate of the reserve and also off road parking on the road verge on the opposite side of the road. Be careful of vehicles coming around the blind bend at the bottom of Croft Hill road.
