Geocache Description:

It's time for an Old Silo Series-Northern Tour-Old Silo #12, to the west.

We loved the old silo series by Mister Greenthumb, so realized it was time for an old silo series up our way- a joint effort between Hearty Soles and Lacknothing. Growing up on a farm, old silos bring back many good memories from days gone by.

And of course, borrowed from the orignal "Old Silo" caches:

Silo Fact: The work silo means "cellar". Before silos, corn was stored underground in cellars.

Silo Fact: Why are all the silos the same general shape, width and height? It was determined in the 1920's that anything taller or wider would result in too much loss due to mold.

Silo Fact: In 1923 there were 100,000 silos in Wisconsin, the most in any state. New York in second with only 54,000.

Please post pictures as you find silos, and rehide as found so it stays secure, thanks.

Congrats Jim & Linda FTF!
