Geocache Description:

Mäntän seudun koulutuskeskus on tarjonnut lentokonetekniikan koulutusta aikuisopiskelijoille opetusministeriön tukemana jo 20 vuotta.

Huoltoyrityksillä on kysyntää menestyksellisesti koulutuksensa suorittaneista lentokoneasentajista.

Lupakirjan myöntävä viranomainen Suomessa on liikenteenturvallisuus virasto Trafi.

Presentation in English
Mänttä Regional Vocational Education Center educates new professionals for the field of aviation and co-operates e.g. with Patria, Finnair, Airfix Aviation, Flybe (FAM) and many other maintenance organisations, which have also employed many of the graduates from our institute.

Mänttä Regional Vocational Education Center has offered education in aircraft technology for adult students for over 20 years. The education has been supported by the ministry of education. The education gives skills, which are needed when working in the field of aircraft structures and maintenance. Our most significant co-operation partners are Patria Aviation, Fincomm (FAM), Airfix and Finnair Technical Services.

Equipment used for teaching aircraft structures and maintenance skills consists of Fouga Magister, Beechcraft King Air 100, Piper Chieftain and Cessna 150. In addition to these, we have a lot of other equipment and material to be used in maintenance training. We have also the engines and engine accessories of aircrafts Vinka, Saab Safir and Draken, with the help of which the students can learn how powerplants are maintained. In addition to these, we have also good level in testing- and learning equipment for electric and avionic instruments.

Our Part 147/66A-course, which lasts for 1,5 years and consists of approx. 41 credit units, consists of aeronautical theoretical studies as well as practical tasks from the fields of aircraft mechanics, avionics and electrics. In the future there will be also a B1.1-study program available, which will last for approximately 3 years.

In the Europe-wide PART-66 study program the student will have education in aviation maintenance in the same level as an aeronautical professional would have in any other European country.

After the student has accomplished the required education, passed the tests and received the work experience required, he may apply for an aircraft maintenance license. In Finland the licenses are granted by the Civil Aviation Administration.

A skilled aircraft technician manages the field of traditional aeronautics and is able to apply his knowledge in situations where aircrafts are repaired and maintained. A skilled aircraft technician is responsible and able to work both alone and as a responsible member of a group.
As our education is developing, our aim is that the students´ possibilities to become employed within various tasks and employers in the field of aviation become more diversified. In addition to existing Patria Oyj, the larger airlines, like Finnair Oyj, Fly Be, FAM, Blue1/SAS as well as many smaller companied operating in the field of aircraft maintenance, are concrete alternatives.

Our educational environment has been designed and built to support aircraft maintenance education. We have modern ADP-equipment as well as aeronautical work instruments. With the help of our aircrafts used for aircraft maintenance training, we can organize authentic maintenance exercises as would happen in companies working in the field of aviation maintenance. During the education we are organizing practical maintenance tasks to various aircraft systems in our own maintenance environment.
In addition we have also classrooms for material science and for electronics and avionics.
