Welcome to the Southern Rockies' GeoCache 7. Updated 2020
This cache is hidden along the banks of the Red Deer River (yes, it's THAT Red Deer River, cool huh?) The river forms part of our border with the Clearwater Fire Control zone. It is possible to drive a vehicle right up to the river, but there are some steep dips along the way. If the clearance on your vehicle isn't high enough for the dips, park at trail marker "491".
Trail maps are available at our offices, in the information kiosks, and here
As of April 15th 2014 there are 2 more prizes available. These will be handed out on a first come first served basis. Stay tuned for a new challenge once the prizes are gone!
There are numerous feral horses in the area.
Seekers are responsible for knowing the potential hazards of being near oil and gas infrastructure.
Hidden in the forests along the southern slopes of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains are 15 caches, each with a different piece of a puzzle. Collect all 15 pieces and bring them (or mail them) to the address provided in order to receive the grand prize. Hint: there are no caches at wildfire tower lookouts. Caches have been placed with permission.
