Geocache Description:

This is another in our series dedicated to the Baccalieu Trail. Our goal is to get a cache in every community along the Baccalieu Trail.

Grates Cove is a small fishing community at the tip of the Bay de Verde peninsula and it is the most northerly point on the Avalon Peninsulia.

It was said that John Cabot landed at Grates Cove in 1497 and it was said he carved an inscription in a large rock in the area and has since disappeared.

The town has walking trails and the famous rock walls which is a national historic site.
The cache is a decon container containing the usual trade items and is located at a viewing deck in the scenic community.

On the day of placement it was foggy and raining but the clue should give it away.
