When: Friday 14th June 2013, from 9pm
Where: At the A'Chuil bothy, approx mid way between Glenfinnan and Inverie on the Knoydart peninsula. It's a fair way from anywhere, hence the event's name and the highish Terrain rating.
Why: Because I heard about a Bothy event held in 2008 (from memory) and thought it sounded like a lot of fun. Rather random, slightly surreal fun, but that still sounds like candle-lit fun to me.
What: A cache meet (caching chat, refreshment - bring your own! - and travel item swapping) in a remote Bothy with one of the best views on mainland Britain. I intend to stay here overnight but attendees would be wise to bring a tent if the Bothy is already full when I/you/we get here.
Who: Cachers from far and wide. But only ones with some experience of long hikes, with suitable equipment and skills please (depending on route). If conditions are good, children are welcome but please consider how long the walk to - and from - this location is. Tracks are rough too!
How: I intend to leave my car at Mallaig, take the train to Glenfinnan in the morning, have a nice walk north out to the Bothy on the classic route and continue on to Inverie the following day, via two remote caches I failed to reach in 2011. You may wish to park (with care) at the western end of Loch Arkaig, beyond Murlaggan. From there the walk to the Bothy is 'only' around 3 miles, each way.
There's a thread about my June 2013 events on the Groundspeak forum and on the GAGB forum.
