Geocache Description:

Eng: Denmark's smallest museum is a former transformer station of about 7m2

Eng:
A little Museum, and a nano Cache!
Bulldozers were ready to smash the tower, which was built in the Gothic style with red brick and white grout, but people in the village thought it was too nice to be demolished, and cultural memory was saved

Was built in 1922 shortly after the Danish reunification. Was initially connected to a power plant in Sønderborg, but from 1924 connected to the supply from the plant in Aabenraa.
The tower in Tandslet is one of the first 40 towers which were initially listed on Als.

They became the symbol of a new era where electricity was a quantum leap that enabled modern technology both in village households and agriculture.
The current work was made easier by milking, threshing and other power demanding work. In these small Transformer houses were the high voltage transformed to a low voltage which could be sent out to homes and farms.

The Museum is a local initiative and has been renovated and original equipment has been installed.
If you want more information, then the Norwegian Roger Pihl has written a small book on the transformer and the other of Danish overlooked things and places. (you can get it in the local shop)

Industry Museum Schleswig also has an interesting page that include refers to this location: http://www.imslesvig.dk/desktop.php?set_lang=da
