O Rio Solimões é um rio brasileiro que banha o estado do Amazonas.
Começa no Peru e ao entrar no Brasil, no município de Tabatinga, recebe o nome de Solimões.
Tem como afluentes da margem direita os rios Javari, Jutaí, Juruá e Purus na margem esquerda os rios Içá e Japurá e percorre as cidades de São Paulo de Olivença, Amaturá, Santo Antônio do Içá, Tonantins, Jutaí, Fonte Boa, Tefé, Coari, Codajás, Anamã, Anori, Manacapuru, totalizando aproximadamente 1.700 km até chegar a Manaus, onde ao encontrar o Rio Negro, recebe o nome de Rio Amazonas.
Ele é importante porque é fonte de alimento, transporte, comércio, pesquisas científicas e lazer.

Solimões (Portuguese pronunciation: [soliˈmõjs]) is the name often given to upper stretches of the Amazon River from its confluence with the Rio Negro upstream to the border of Brazil and Peru.
Further upstream from the border, the name of the river seems to depend on the speaker. Brazilians may either continue to call it the Solimões or refer to it as the Rio Marañón - a name which Peruvians usually only apply further upstream, before the Marañón and the Ucayali join to create what they call the Amazon river.
