Hillbilly's Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

MountainWoods: Went looking for this and couldn't find it; and there ain't much other place around here where it could have gone to. Probably a non-geocacher found it and figured they'd like the key holder they thought was discarded.

Anyway, I'm not really into geocaching much anymore. I enjoy Waymarking much more. So Washburn is back open to needing a geocache or two.

Geocache Description:

First geocache in Washburn, Missouri

This portion of Washburn was platted after the railroad came through in the 1870s.  The original part of town is the "upper portion" near the intersection of MO-90 and MO-37.  It was originally called Keetsville, and was one of only four towns in Barry County during the Civil War.  The other towns were Cassville, McDowell and Gadfly (later named Corsicana). All but Gadfly were on the Old Wire Road / Trail of Tears. There were also other settlements (like Herdsville, later called Roller Ridge, and then Seligman), but they were only tiny settlements back then.
After this portion of the town was platted, the name was officially changed to Washburn, although the lower portion was known as O'Day from 1880 to 1892, before it was finally just all called Washburn.

Bring your own pencil. Please exercise normal caching etiquette and put the container back exactly where and how you found it.
Permission from Brian Henry, the store owner, was obtained before placing the cache. He permitted the cache, but I placed it. So, even thouth Brian is a great guy, please do not complain to him if the container goes missing -- that is not normal protocol anyway! Just log the usual DNF to let me know.
