The KZN Mini-Matrix Challenge Cache
In order to find this cache, you need to meet ALL of the requirements below.
You need to find 25 caches anywhere in South Africa (not restricted to KZN) that have a D/T rating as per the grid below. Note that you need not find caches that have a rating ending in ".5". Your finds must be at least one of every D/T combination that has a whole number - e.g. 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, ...... 5/3, 5/4, 5/5. This makes 25 caches in all that need to be found.
The date of find can be any time since the commencement of geocaching.
A maximum of two of your own cache placements can be used instead of finds. These need to be rated Difficulty or Terrain of 4 or greater. In other words, if you have placed a cache rated D2/T5, you can use this placement to qualify for the challenge and do not need to find a cache of that rating.
Once you have found and logged this cache, please include in your log a link to a bookmark list detailing your qualifying caches, or alternatively list the qualifying caches (by ascending D/T rating) at the bottom of your log text.
If you are a premium member, you can create a bookmark list by visiting this link. Please make your list shared and public!
Format required: GC Code, Cache name, Date found, D/T rating. e.g.
GC2Y2EH - Postbox - Beviss Road - 21/7/2013 - 1/1
....
GC1X936 - 340 Degrees - 14/9/2011 - 5/5
All lists will be checked and those who do not meet the requirements will have their logs deleted
The cache.
In order to find this cache you will need to visit the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve. Parking is available in the picnic area. A small admission charge is levied (R20 per adult, R10 per child at the time of publishing) Holders of Rhino Cards gain free admission.
Once in the reserve, you should follow the Yellow Trail to the bottom of the gorge. Be sure to arrange a hiking party of at least two persons and take sufficient water with you.
This is a medium to strenuous hike and will take a minimum of two hours to complete. You will need to descend to the bottom of the gorge and will cross the Molweni river twice. Note that after heavy rains it may not be possible to cross the Molweni River. The staff at the KKNR office wil be able to assist. In winter (May - September) the river is normally easily crossed using stepping stones at each crossing point.
The D/T rating of this cache reflects the qualification criteria. The true D/T rating of the physical cache is D2.5 / T 4.
A spoiler pic is supplied with the listing.
