Joaquim Marques de Lisboa, o Almirante Tamandaré (Rio Grande, 13 de dezembro de 1807 — Rio de Janeiro, 20 de março de 1897), foi um militar da Marinha do Brasil. Na carreira, atingiu o posto de almirante, tendo os seus serviços à pátria sido reconhecidos pelo Império com a concessão do título de marquês de Tamandaré. Herói nacional, é o patrono da Marinha de Guerra do Brasil. O dia de seu nascimento, 13 de dezembro, é lembrado como o Dia do Marinheiro.
Participou nas lutas da guerra da Independência do Brasil, na Bahia, da Confederação do Equador e da repressão às revoltas ocorridas durante o Período Regencial: a Cabanagem, a Sabinada, a Farroupilha, a Balaiada e a Praieira.
No plano externo, participou da Guerra contra Oribe e Rosas e, com a eclosão da Guerra do Paraguai, comandou as forças navais em operação na bacia do Rio da Prata, em apoio à batalha do Passo da Pátria, à batalha de Curuzu e à batalha de Curupaiti. (fonte: Wikipédia)
Curiosidade - O Testamento de Tamandaré
Em 23 de setembro de 1893, Tamandaré assim dispôs:
"Não havendo a Nação Brasileira prestado honras fúnebres de espécie alguma por ocasião do falecimento do imperador, o senhor D. Pedro II, o mais distinto filho desta terra, tanto por sua moralidade, alta posição, virtudes, ilustração, como pela dedicação no constante empenho ao serviço da Pátria durante quase 50 anos que presidiu a direção do Estado, creio que a nenhum homem de seu tempo se poderá prestar honras de tal natureza, sem que se repute ser isso um sarcasmo cuspido sobre os restos mortais de tal indivíduo pelo pouco valor dele em relação ao elevadíssimo merecimento do grande imperador.
Não quero pois, que por minha morte que me prestem honras militares, tanto em casa como em acompanhamento para sepultura.
Exijo que meu corpo seja vestido somente com camisa, ceroula e coberto com um lençol, metido em caixão forrado de baeta, tendo uma cruz na mesma fazenda, branca, e sobre ela colocada a âncora verde que me ofereceu a Escola Naval em 13 de dezembro de 1892, devendo colocar no lugar que faz cruz a haste e o cepo, um coração imitando o de Jesus, para que assim ornado signifique que a âncora cruz, o emblema da fé, esperança e caridade que procurei conservar sempre como timbre dos meus sentimentos. Sobre o caixão não desejo que se coloque coroas, flores nem enfeites de qualquer espécie, e só a Comenda do Cruzeiro que ornava o peito do Sr. D. Pedro II em Uruguaiana, quando compareceu como o primeiro dos Voluntários da Pátria para libertar aquela possessão brasileira do jugo dos paraguaios, que a aviltavam com a sua pressão; e como tributo de gratidão e benevolência com que sempre me honrou e da lealdade que constantemente a S.M.I. tributei, desejo que essa Comenda Relíquia esteja sobre meu corpo até que baixe a sepultura, devendo ficar depois pertencente a minha filha D.M.E.L. (Dona Maria Eufrásia Marques Lisboa) como memória d’Ele e lembrança minha.
Exijo que se não faça anúncios nem convites para o enterro de meus restos mortais, que desejo sejam conduzidos de casa ao carro e deste à cova por meus irmãos em Jesus Cristo que hajam obtido o foro de cidadãos pela lei de 13 de maio.
Isto prescrevo como prova de consideração a esta classe de cidadãos em reparação à falta de atenção que com eles se teve pelo que sofreram durante o estado de escravidão, e reverente homenagem à Grande Isabel Redentora, benemérita da Pátria e da Humanidade, que se imortalizou libertando-os.
Exijo mais, que meu corpo seja conduzido em carrocinha de última classe enterrado em sepultura rasa até poder ser exumado, e meus ossos colocados com os de meus pais, irmãos e parentes, no jazigo da Família Marques Lisboa.
Como homenagem à Marinha, minha dileta carreira, em que tive a fortuna de servir à minha Pátria e prestar algum serviço à humanidade, peço que sobre a pedra que cobrir minha sepultura se escreva: Aqui jaz o Velho Marinheiro."

Joaquim Marques de Lisboa, Admiral Tamandaré (Rio Grande, December 13, 1807 - Rio de Janeiro, March 20, 1897) was an officer of the Navy of Brazil.
