Keava linnus on muistse Harjumaa kõige lõunapoolsem linnus. Hiljuti leiti linnuse lähedalt, Linnaaluste küla territooriumilt, üle 10 hektari hõlmanud muinasasula kultuurikiht. Pindalalt on see üks viikingiaja (9.-11. sajandi keskpaik) suurimaid asulaid Eestis. Keava linnus ja asula kujutasid tol ajal endast ilmselt üsna olulist keskust. Vanim teade Keavas asunud linnuse kohta on Vene kroonikates. Aastal 1054 vallutas vürst Izjaslav "Kedepivi" linnuse. Kroonika tõlkis seda nime ka vene keelde "solntsa ruka" ("päikese käsi" - "kä(d)päe"?). Veel 1410. aastal kandis sealne küla nime Kedempe. Kaitseehituse välisilme järgi oletatakse, et linnus oli kasutusel 9.-12. sajandini. …

NKT Keava linnus on multi-mõistatusaare. Alusta nullist. Suundu sinna, kuhu sind suunatakse. Kohale jõudes, tutvu infotahvliga. Sellelt leiad vajalikud andmed. Järgmiseks leia „kiigepuu“. Aare asub „kiigepuu“ juurest X meetrit suunal Y. X-i leidmiseks liida linnuse õue pikkusele 2,8 sülda ja Y on linnuse õue laius +40.

[ENG] This cache is dedicated to Estonian geocacher [captjohn], whose cache Päikesekäsi (GCYHAK) invited us once to this hill-fort.
The Keava hill-fort was already known a long time ago; yet, the settlement sites were discovered recently. It occurred that the site Linnaaluste I, situated close to the fort, covers an area of 8 ha (or even more) and has a rather thick and intensive cultural layer. The importance of Keava comes out from the old Russian chronicles. After the capture of Tartu in 1030, the Russians tried to enlarge their power over other districts of Estonia. In this way, the Russian prince Izyaslav captured in 1054 a hill-fort that was called 'Kedepiv'. This place-name was also translated into Russian - Solntsa Ruka ('The Hand Of The Sun'). As the modern Keava village was still in 1410 called Kedempe, it seems very probable that both the old 'Kedepiv' and new 'Keava' mean the same place.
About the cache.
NKT Keava hill-fort is multi-mystery cache. Start form 0-point. Go, where you are pointed. When you arrive, read the information-board (sorry, only in estonian). You´ll find necessary data from there. Next you´ll have to find a „swingtree“. Cache is X meters from „swingtree“ to direction Y. To find X, add to the lenght (pikk) of the yard of hill-fort 2,8 fathoms. Y is width (lai) of the yard of the stronghold +40.
