Geocache Description:

This was the first multicache to be placed in Wales.

This is a pleasant but slightly demanding walk with excellent views. From the car park to the cache site should take between 1 and 1.5 hours. As with any mountain walk you must be suitably equipped and prepared.

Park your car at Gospel Pass
N52° 00.533 / W003° 06.863
Full 14 figure OS reference: 0323616 0235070

1. First go to Lord Hereford’s Knob (its not very big!)
N52° 00.510 / W003° 07.845

2. Then set off towards the triangulation point (713m) at
N51° 59.607 / W003° 08.989

3. Find the 4 digit benchmark number. Follow the instructions below and substitute them into the grid reference below in order to find the cache.

The first number gives you A
Take 1 from the second number to get B
Add 1 to the third number to get C
Add 2 to the fourth number to get D

N51° 59.ABC / W003° 0D.015

4. To find the cache stand at the grid reference you have worked out and face south. It is hidden in the rocks in front of you. Be careful because the ground is steep and can be slippery. It was originally well hidden. If it isn’t when you find it please try to hide it as best you can.

We suggest that you approach the car park from the A465(T), turning off at Llanvihangel Crucorney. Follow the road that passes through Stanton, Henlann and Llanthony (you will pass through them in that order if you’re on the right track) in the direction of Hay-On-Wye. We recommend you stop at the stunning Llanthony Priory which has free toilets too. Also worth a visit is the chapel at Capel-y-ffin. Then park on Gospel Pass to start the search.

Original contents include: Gel pens + novelty sharpener + calculator + mug + log book + disposable lighter + can opener.
