Hartford, the Insurance Capital of the World, was first settled by Dutch fur traders in 1614. English settlers led by Thomas Hooker arrived in 1635. Hartford is home to the country’s oldest running newspaper, The Hartford Courant, the oldest park, Bushnell Park, and the nation's oldest public art museum, the Wadsworth Antheneum. Some of the nation’s largest insurance companies continue to have Hartford as their headquarters, which gave it its nickname. Resurgence in the downtown area is underway including a new science museum and rehabilitation of the riverfront. The coordinates take you to Old North Cemetery on Main Street. There are some familiar family names on many of the stones here. As always, please be very respectful of this area.
Street parking is available nearby.
Congratulations to the pickletickles for the FTF!
