Geocache Description:

Small sized cache located on the footpath, no need to climb any fences to get to it!

This cache is located overlooking Woodlands Farm.

Woodlands Farm is not only where the first coal seam was discovered in Coalpit Heath, it was owned by Dick King-Smith, celebrated children's author, between 1948-1961.

Animals were kept at the farm but treated more as pets than livestock and the inspiration for the book "The Sheep Pig" published in 1983, made even more famous when it was made in to a film in 1995 called "BABE".
Make the most of the lovely views overlooking the farm, as there is planning to build 400 houses on this site. A great shame.

Also of note is the Victorian cattle creep nearby, built in 1902, under the railway. Well done FTF to COMMODOREMUM If coming from Park Farm you will pass the fantastic new bench (2020) commemorating Dick King Smith and Babe.
