Nekozoeki: Sadly Tomdog707 is moving away from Cape Town for the next few years and I do not have the means to keep this one going on my own.

A big thanks for everyone who went out to go catch this cache, we had a great experience building the cache and seeing the logs come in.

And we're still together, so this will be a happy memory :)

Geocache Description:

This is an underwater cache located very close to the Cape Fur Seal Colony of Duiker Island, near Houtbay. You can find this cache from a boat with either scuba equipment or by snorkeling and a taking a couple of dives down. The cache is placed at about 4m depth and has to be logged UNDERWATER, as it is chained there to prevent danger to the seals. TB's will get wet! Please read the cache description carefully.

CAPE FUR SEALS AND THE GREAT WHITE MYSTERY

Are you brave enough to go on a search for a Great White Mystery lurking below the waves where the Cape Fur Seals live?
Then find yourself a boat and snorkel or scuba your way down!...Unless your GPS is completely waterproof, please make sure you read the complete cache description first, as you'll need all it's info to find the cache AND get coordinates for bonuscache. GC2Z8C9.

Eversince I first visited the Cape Fur Seals colony of Duiker Island with marine biologist Steve Benjamin, I'm hooked on playing in the waves with the Seals. So everytime I'm in Cape Town, I visit the Seals.They are very inquisitive and come very close to you. Dozens of Cape Fur Seals circling around you is just a breathtaking experience!
On my last trip I met Divemaster Tom (who is now my dive & geocache buddy "Tomdog707") and together we hatched a plan to make a cool underwater cache at our favorite spot.
We hope you have as much fun searching for it as we did in creating it!

Some important information about the cache:
The cache can be found with either snorkel or scuba gear. If you do not have your own boat or gear, there are several companies offering snorkel and dive tours to the seals. Just use google or contact me if you'd like some help.
WARNINGS:Please do NOT attempt to take the cache from it's location underwater to the surface. It has been chained to the bottom to prevent the curious seals from getting hurt! Logging can be done underwater on the waterproof dive slate logbook. Please make sure to close the cache well again!
Also very important: Please do NOT attempt to swim to the cache from the shore, this is UNSAFE, as bigger boats cruise the canal between Duiker Island and the main land.

Now, when you have your boat as close as possible to the coordinates, spot the 2 highest rocks around Duiker Island, the high one with the birds on it and a lower one with seals on it (most of the time) right next to it. The cache is located about 10 meters NNE of this rock, below the waves. "X" marks the spot on both pictures, taken at slightly different angles.

When you find the cache, you'll ALSO find the information you need to find bonuscache GC2Z8C9 "Gotta dive deep to reach the top!". Be prepared and find out what you're looking for here.

Also, we'd looove to get pictures of your quest with your logs, but please don't give away the great white mystery with pictures of the container itself! (Instead, you can send those pics to me, I'd love to see!)
