Geocache Description:

A place of execution situated close to the apex of the junction where the road from Heavitree splits for Sidmouth

Long since abandonded, you will be glad to hear. This was also known as the Ringswell or Heavitree Drop. The condemned were transported by cart to the gallows, probably from South Gate prison. As this was outside of the city of Exeter the condemned would have commited crimes in the County of Devon and would have been tried at the castle.
