Geocache Description:

Hidelbrand

Frei Haildebrand

Being a certain merchant Hidelbrand, nationality English, in danger at sea because of a storm that had arisen, and, not his that remain any hope of salvation, with the ship he was traveling, swinging between rocks and the waves of the sea encanelarem is increasingly falling and a dark night, far from any human aid and medicine, he decided, with the remaining sailors, in an attitude of prayer Sulpice, to take refuge with a certain image of the glorious Virgin most devout , he carried with him, and, not having been able to find in any way disappointed in their hope, hoping for nothing more than the wreck and a bitter death.
And behold, when I least thought, shone some light for you on the side of the hill Arrábico / the hillside Arrábico). And having, along with the sailors, she headed for the bow, after the briefest space of time, he met a certain port remansoso, quiet and totally secure, which launched anchors against all hope, and escaped an imminent danger of such proportions.
Now as to give great thanks to God for size and High benefit received, headed, with (one) light to accompany him to the place where it originated focus to arouse his attention, that image of the glorious Virgin Mary, that sought very carefully on the ship, had failed to find him appeared unexpectedly yourself and sailors who accompanied him, fixed upon a certain rock.
Attributing this to the goodness and mercy of God, the merchant himself, divided, first the goods at that place where that image had settled, tried to build a hermitage and a tower adjacent to it, where he spent the rest of his life he had under the habit of hermit, in extreme poverty, perpetual prayer and holiness.
