Geocache Description:

ENG:
The railway between Valka and Ape was part of the narrow gauge railway line from Valka to Pļaviņas. In its original form it ran until WW2, afterward the war all railway traffic ran from the nearby station in Valga, Estonia, thus the route of the old line was changed. In 1970 the line Valga-Ape was also closed down. This abandoned railway is interesting due to the fact that it was a line connecting two towns in Latvia, but running mostly through Estonia.

This geocache will guide you through some of the remaining railway objects along the line from Valka to Ape. You are advised to walk (will probably require 2 days) or cycle (will require 1 day) along the old railway line, visiting 17 waypoints and matching those to pictures which you can find in the task sheet.

Special notice: It is recommended to start your journey in Valka and head in the direction of Ape. Since some of the waypoints are in Latvia, while others are in Estonia - please don't forget your passport/ID card for crossing the border. If you have any troubles with the cache - feel free to call the cache owner at 0037129149326.

Happy caching, and don't miss the train!

Another special notice: I don't have any doubts that you can beat the formula and find the final cache without visiting all waypoints. If it is +1 in the stats you're after, sure you can log the cache as found under such circumstances. But it's not exactly the point of this cache.

LAT:
Dzelzceļa posms Valka-Ape bija daļa no šaursliežu dzelzceļa līnijas Valka-Pļaviņas.

Uzdevums:

Aizpildi tabulu ar burtiem no bildēm. Pirmais punkts ir tuvākais Valkai, 17. - tuvākais Apei. Piemēram, ja pirmajā punktā redzi, ka tas atbilst attēlam C, tad raksti tabulā C rindiņā zem vieninieka.

Šādā veidā tu iegūsi vērtības A...Q, kuras vajadzēs ievietot gala formulā, lai iegūtu slēpņa koordinātes.

Slēpni tu atradīsi:
N 57 S.T, E 026 U.V,
kur:
S = Q+L+H+D+K+L-F-A-G
T = (K*M*H)-(N*B*D)-(J*I)-L
U = K+E+P+B+Q+N-F-A
V = (A*E*H)-(N*P*M)-(G*K*B)-L
