This event is being held on International Geocaching Day! We couldn't imagine a more appropriate day to congratulate our special international friend!.
Geocachers unite on the 3rd Saturday every August to celebrate International Geocaching Day, and there's even a digital prize. Geocachers who log an "Attended" at an Event Cache or a "Found it" for another cache type on International Geocaching Day earn a souvenir (last year's pictured) for their Geocaching.com profile page. International Geocaching Day is the perfect occasion to hike with family and friends, enjoy the outdoors, and log one, two, or a dozen smileys. More than 94,000 geocachers from around the world charged into the wilderness or perhaps walked casually down the sidewalk to find a geocache last year.
Where:
Golden Corral Buffet and Grill 4720 E New York Street (posted coordinates)
Aurora, near the Fox Valley Mall
630-499-9415
We have a huge part of the restaurant reserved, so there will be plenty of room for everyone. We're expecting pretty big crowd, so besides congratulating Dutchlandian, this will be a great chance to make a new friend or two (or 3 or 4 or 5)! After breakfast, be sure to hunt some caches! There's enough to do to keep you busy all day!
When:
Saturday, August 17, 2013
8:00am - 9:30am
COME HUNGRY!
What:
This is our friend Dutchlandian in all her glory...
If she comes to America to do this, it makes you wonder what life is like back home!
Once again, it's time to welcome our best friend from Holland! Dutchlandian is coming back to The United States for her fifth caching trip here, and we plan to help make it another fun and busy adventure for her! As of this writing, Dutchlandian, (Ans Wouters), has found 909 caches in The U.S., but she's going to have several days before this event to reach her first big milestone. Shortly after her plane lands, we're whisking her past the Cheddar Curtain, to West Bend, WI, where we'll be attending the 2013 West Bend $1000 Cache Ba$h! We'll spend a few days up there, and we should have Ans well past the magic number before her return to Illinois.
Also:
There will be at least a couple of surprises, as well as a raffle, starting at 8:45. Come early!
We'll also have a Travel Bug/Coin Exchange, and a GONIL merchandise table.
Hides:
Inspired by a great Dutch artist, Carol and I plan on premiering a series of caches featuring (not so) original works of art by the soon to be famous geocaching artist Van GOJAC.
If YOU feel inspired, you may also wish to submit caches of your own for this event. Please ask the reviewer to publish your cache on Thursday, August 15. Please submit your caches no later than August 5, so the reviewers have plenty of time to approve them. If you would like your caches listed on this page, please e-mail the details to me at jjmalley@comcast.net.
