.Welcome to Elmer's Fountain! If you look at the drinking fountain you'll see its former name of "Arnold's Fountain". Built in early 80's out of salvaged mining parts in honor of former landowner, Mr. Arnold, and for the benefit of passers-by. The Larger bowls came from the famous Sunshine mine. The smaller bowls came from the Mountain Goat mine. The picnic table top was once part of the Murray jail. After the man who built them died, it was decided to rename the fountains in his honor, thus Elmer's fountain. You can admire the old ore car and pelton water wheel (both used at the former Moe mine) The cache is down a trail behind the rear fountain. Walk past a small dog house looking building where they used to keep geese. Trail is well used and heads down towards gold creek. Walk straight to creek. Admire creek. Just downstream is a large tree with a good hiding spot. Cache is regular size ammo box. Think moss. No need to climb a bank or get wet. Enjoy! Eastbound I-90 access only. Westbound can backtrack easily by taking exit 65 then double back. Gold creek is exit 66. Another exit at 67 will get you back westbound so about 4 miles extra total if you decide to backtrack. This cache was placed with permission from landowner. You can check out our instagram also. Thanks! (p.s. also a letterbox nearby)
