Geocache Description:

I plan on hiking in on Friday August 23 early in the morning to secure the campsite. I plan on leaving Molalla at 6:00 AM and hitting the trailhead around 7:00 AM. If the weather is good I may even hike in sometime on Thursday the 22nd. Day-trippers are welcome! We had a couple last year. The trailhead on the Molalla side is at the cache GC1VHDV, you may leave a comment in the logbook for this cache about when you started on the trail as it serves as an unofficial trailhead log book. The key points of the trail are marked with caches. GC1YQ8T is where the trail joins the old logging road, GC1XNJZ is the turnoff towards Thunder Mountain and Skookum Lake (miss this junction and you will end up at Skookum Lake anyway), GC1VHDC is where the trail turns off of the old logging road (this section of the trail has been marked with red and white flagging), GC1XNHQ is the junction of the Baty Butte-Thunder Mountain-Skookum Lake trails. For early arrivers,Friday evening will be for all the serious Skookum hunters out there. The plan is to have a quiet evening with an all night vigel around the fire. We will prepare track areas and the wild-life camera will be retrieved/placed. There are some web sites where you can researh bigfoot activity at Skookum Lake: Oregon Bigfoot.com, Skookum Lake report. Bigfoot Field Research Organization. Saturday will be the usual chat and events: Best-of in various categories; "What did you pack in"; primative projectiles; short hikes to Thunder Mountain or East Mountain. Sunday will be break camp and hike out. See the logs for lprior years events for some of the goings on. Huckleberries should be at the peak of ripeness, We will try for our Saturday morning breakfast to be huckleberry pancakes with sausage provided and prepared by your host. Bring your favorite item for breakfast. Last year this went very well... but bring back up. Extra supplies brought in early can be left in the giant stump that also contains the geocache GC1X2C7 which is located near the campsite. In your "will attend" log please include the number in your party, any dogs attending, and any specialized gear you are bringing and what you are bringing for breakfast. More to follow!
